We also did a pop up show in the Madinat Souk, which is a tourist souk near the theatre. Performing in a public space is tricky because people aren’t there to focus on you, so you have to work really hard to get them to stop talking and pay attention. The space is also totally different so you just have fun improvising movements and projecting your voice.
This was a bit of a publicity thing to let the tourists know that we are here all week with a special Valentines show at the weekend – the Madinat is very much set up for tourists and ex-pats so these are the people that we were selling the show to with the pop-up theatre.
I have also had more photos taken of me than I ever had, and, if you know me, you probably know that I don’t mind that at all, in fact it is so lovely that by putting on a Juliet costume and a smile you can get people happy and excited.
Back again tomorrow, although it is the dress and technical rehearsal so I might not have time to post.
